It’s been forever since we’ve been to Savannah together. I was sort of “over” it because of all the trips to Roebling Road, and Cathy got a bit tired of it after all the St. Patty’s days we’ve been to. Cathy had a work conference in town though, and I decided to tag along right at the end and we made a mini-vacation out of it. We did a carriage tour around town, went on a house tour, visited the cemetery, biked around town, hit Tybee island for some beach time, and spent some time in town eating pizza and drinking. Great weekend!
Savannah, as tourists…
October 9th, 2012Our Engagement photos
October 9th, 2012We got engaged about this time last year (10/30 to be exact). Even though that was forever ago, we didn’t get “engagement” pictures taken until we picked out our wedding photographer and got us a package deal. Worked out great as it was a chance to meet our wedding photog and make sure he was pretty awesome before we paid him a metric ton of $$ to photograph our wedding. I think they turned out pretty awesome. We finally have some “good” pictures of the two of us!
Long time!
October 5th, 2012Holy hell, LONG time no see! I’ve had crazy, awesome, things happen in my life over the past 1.5 years, and as much as I always said “hey, I’ll post this on the blog”, I end up just putting it up on twitter/fb and never making it to here. Guess I’ve gotten really good at putting my thoughts into 140 characters or less.
Since I’ve posted last I’ve
- Gotten engaged and married!
- Gotten completely out of racing cars and fully switched to mountain bikes
- Got hurt, unhurt, hurt, and now finally unhurt enough to race bikes
- Moved out from suburbia hell to in-town
Whew!
I’ll post a bunch of pics in the next few posts from a few recent trips, our engagement photos and also wedding photos. Then this and next year I plan on using this blog to document a bunch of my bike racing and training. Can’t get a lot of those into 140 characters. Lastly, I did a “Photo A Day” project in 2012, which was semi success, as it’s turned into a “A Photo every few days” as the year went on. It really got me back into liking photos though, so I’ll be posting galleries as I take them. As much of a nerd as I am, I can’t really bring myself to blog about work and code anymore. I’ve been starting to leave it at the office instead of doing that stuff for a hobby, and I have to say, that’s awesome.
Photos from a bike ride around Atlanta
May 11th, 2011We went out for a cool little bike ride around downtown on Sunday. Went to the Carter center, Grant Park, and the Oakland Cemetery as well. Fun little route and a detraction from the normal tooling around the greenway that we’ve done on past Sundays. Was also a good recovery ride after my 6 hour race on Saturday.
It was nice taking the camera back out and playing around. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve taken photos and I hope I’m going to get back into it.
Finally pics of the new car!
April 24th, 2011As some (most) of you guys know, I bought an S2000 a few weeks ago. Between the dog and the mountain bikes, I’ve been driving the truck a LOT, so it made no sense to have a Mazda3 as a “weekend car”. I wanted a coupe, rather then a convertible, but after driving an S2000, I was sold. I took care of the coupe part with the hardtop.
The car is just awesome. It’s a go kart for the street. Loud, rough, and insta-responding to inputs. Just what I wanted. It has even given me an ever so slight itch to try autox again, just because it’s so much fun to drive. Maybe if I have a totally free weekend and there happens to be an event. We’ll see. In the meantime, I’ll take those slight detours so I can take that fun cloverleaf or that fun turn. Maybe even take it up to the mountains to play.
Robb and Joe and myself went out around Atlanta yesterday to take some pics of the cars (Robb also got himself a new ride, a 2011 WRX) We got kicked out of every spot we went to, which was funny, and had a great time. It was really cool to see a “real” photographer work. Joe has such an eye for this stuff, that it’s uncanny. Super cool.
We started at the rail yard, and made our way down to the tracks. Then we hit up the SCAD parking deck as there is a great view of downtown during the sunset. Finally we hit a bridge over downtown, but not having a tripod I didn’t get any good night shots. I know Robb and Joe did.
